Bending at the mid-joint of a limb is indicated with a stroke through the stem of the musical note.
Figure "a" denotes a little bending.
Figure "b" denotes a little more bending.
Figure "c" denotes a lot of bending.
Figure "d" denotes diminished bending.
Figure "e" denotes a augmented bending.
Figure "f" denotes slight bending.
Figure "g" denotes first degree bending (hand, for example)
Figure "h" denotes augmented first degree bending (whole arm, whole body, whole leg).1
Figure "i" denotes second degree bending (lower arm, lower torso, lower leg).1
Figure "j" denotes diminished third degree bending (hand, foot, head).1
